PLANT VIBES CAFE & YOGA STUDIO FITOUT

G & K Projects received a call from Eugenie requesting a meeting to go over the fit out works as indicated on her design drawings, I visited site, the location is a beautiful 80 year old building in Brookes street, owned by an Italian family, the sons parents live next door.

After initial discussions with Eugenie about what she wanted done for her new project fitout, we put forward our best offer after discussing budgets & pricing but this wasn't quite enough for them at the time so everyone got back around the table again and figured out how a few elements could be altered while still providing an excellent experience without breaking any financial boundaries - which meant changes like adjusting a few material choices and layout designs!

 

As can be appreciated & expected from buildings of such an age there would no doubt be some secrets waiting us all & she didn’t hold back, an electrical board that looked like a bowl of spaghetti which was hidden from view behind a front panel, looked like it had been added too on many occasions & altered to suit previous tenants with total disregard to the next unassuming person, Asbestos wall panelling, a floor that was 50mm out of level & leaking gutters, but this was taken in everyone’s stride with the clear objective to cost-effectively resolve any barriers along the way.      

 

During the day, the new tenancy will depict an Organic café / coffee shop selling all sorts of special coffees, smoothies, pastries, cakes, cookies and a large selection of Vegan foods, with lots of nick-nacks on display which will also be for sale, such as bags of specially coffee, Byron Bay herbal teas, alternative plant milks, vegan cheese whilst at the same time offering catering ready to pick up and go.

 

At night, the upstairs space transforms into a “Yoga Studio”, this will be run by Eugenie’s younger sister who has trained in this field for some years  

 

A couple of young entrepreneurs leading the way in Bowen Hills, I feel we can expect much more from them into the future

 

The overall theme is simplistic but at the same time reflecting the beauty of natural wood and neutral finishes incorporating white walls, with the original brickwork to introduce texture, utilising the original timber floor & applying a subtle limed wash finish, natural plywood and solid pint timbers, rattan pendants & loads of fresh greenery which will hanging down from the plywood planter boxes, the idea was to keep the look & feel of the aged & expressive internal walls, lattice work, colonial skirting and mouldings to tie the generations together

 

The fitout process took only 4 weeks to complete, Eugenie is ecstatic with the outcome, and as we all know – “A happy client is a returning client”
